Self- reflection Exercises
Socrates said that âan unexamined life isnât worth living,â and I agree. Self-reflection is a tool we must regularly utilize on our journey to self-love. It shouldnât only be brought out at the end of the year or at the beginning of the new year.
I recommend a monthly self-reflection exercise in general; however, you might need to do it on a daily or weekly basis. But the intervals between each self-reflection session should not exceed a month for best results.
Try this simple self-reflection exercise:
â At the beginning of your day, write down one major thing you need to achieve today to get you closer to your goal.
â Then write down the potential deterrents to your achieving that one thing.
â Now, write what you can do to avoid those deterrents and how to overcome them if they occur.
At the end of your day,
â Reflect on the dayâs events and write what youâve learned about yourself during the day.
This basic exercise is great for a routine daily or weekly check. However, before you start doing a routine exercise, you need to do a major session where you examine key areas of your life to decide how to achieve your goals. The worksheet below is a clear guide on how a major session should go. Feel free to add other questions as necessary.
